A trailer a day keeps the Boogeyman away! The Dead One (1961)

THE DEAD ONE 1961

This obscure film surrounds a voodoo priestess who sends out zombies to bring back live victims for her sacrificial rituals. Also known as Blood of The Zombie! The filmed in vivid colors on location is New Orleans, which makes for a pretty atmospheric landscape for voodoo ritual and zombie making…even on an outre cheap budget!

Written and Directed by Barry Mahon who also brought us The Beast Who Killed Women 1965. Starring John Mckay and real life wife Linda Ormand of… well…The Dead One 1961 and Monica Davis who had branched out into Test Tube Babies 1948, Rocket Attack USA 1961, The Hookers 1967 and for that ‘Sin in the Suburbs’ pleasure,  The Swap and How They Make It (1966)

“ SEE THE VOODOO PRINCESS CALL ON THE DEAD ONES TO KILL ! KILL ! KILL !”

See… “EXOTIC VOODOO RITUALS”

A Trailer A day keeps the Boogeyman away! Basket Case 1982

Basket Case 1982

A young man carrying a big basket that contains his deformed Siamese-twin brother seeks vengeance on the doctors who separated them against their will.

One of my all time favorite 80s horror for sure…

Frank Henenlotter’s wonderfully unique and campy horror excursion into the realm of surgical nightmares, brotherly love,  ‘separation anxiety’ and the self made man…Starring Kevin Van Hentenryck and Belial who brings a whole new level of shocks and shivers and a slight fear of play-doh! I really really wish that Henenlotter would commission Sideshow Toys, MacFarlane, Entertainment Earth or ThinkGeek to make a Belial plushy doll. I wouldn’t be able to resist!

“What’s in the basket?…What’s in the basket?…What’s in the basket?”

Joe Bob Briggs on The Evil Dead 1981 “Now That Grandma Has Left The Room”

Joe Bob Briggs is not only a fabulous comedian & TV Host but he’s the patron saint of Drive In Movie Theaters. He’s witty, irreverent, makes no apologies and is savvy on all things shocking and schlocky!

He puts the nostalgia back into my git along. I weep for those woebegone days of icy cokes, salty popcorn and sitting in the back of my pops Chevy at twilight, watching a now ‘cult film’ in my pajamas as a little MonsterGirl.

Here’s a little snippet of Bob on a rant, during an excited evening on The Movie Channel as they are finally about to run Sam Raimi’s The Evil Dead on cablevision.

Sunday Nite Sublime: Russ Meyer’s Faster, PussyCat! Kill! Kill! (1965)Fabulous Tura Satana “The point is of no return and you’ve reached it!”

FASTER, PUSSYCAT! KILL! KILL! 1965

I had the honor of being the next person interviewed right next to Tura in Indie Filmmaker Steve Balderson’s experimental art film, Phone Sex. It was a thrill to come after the vivacious and wonderful Ms Satana!

Three wild women, Tura Satana as Varla, Haji as Rosie and Lori Williams as Billie, strippers thrill seeking cross paths with a young couple in the desert. Once they get rid of the boy, they take the girl hostage and set out to steal a crippled man’s stash of cash, that he’s supposedly hiding. The old man has two sons who they try to seduce in order to get at the old man’s money. But they don’t realize that they’re dealing with something a little more than a feeble man in a wheelchair. Exploitation at it’s best. Satana is a treasure to watch. She just plain kicks ass!

R.I.P you warrior woman! (July 10, 1938 – February 4, 2011)
